This is the README file for the Elated PageKit: "GE-OM"

Introduction
------------

The idea behind the Elated PageKits is that you can either use the ideas here as 
is, and develop them from our startpoints, or you can take the bits that you need 
(like the basic frameset) and customise them for your own use.  We hope you'll 
also find the PageKits educational.  Obviously, to make the best use of them 
you'll need to know some basic HTML.




About This PageKit
------------------


GE-OM is a PageKit influenced heavily by geometric shapes, as you can tell from 
the inspired name! It was created in Photoshop 6 on a G3 Mac and coded in BBEdit

We were unable to make the shapes in this 'Kit with Photoshop's drawing tools, 
since at 72 dpi the lines degraded too much when distorted. Turning to 
Illustrator, we spent ages trying to get the distort tools to do these shapes, but 
were thwarted at every turn. As far as we can see, you'd have to draw the shapes 
already distorted in Illustrator to achieve the effect here. 

In the end we used the new vector tools in Photoshop 6 to get the effect, which 
allow you to create the grid to start with, then distort before you rasterize the 
layer. This gives you a much better result than the older style drawing tools in 
terms of the lines' definition.

Phew! Anyway, it's funky, modern and has perspective-warped shapes. Lovely!





Hints & Tips
------------


We've only supplied one page for you as the menus are so customisable. To get a 
full site going, you'll need to change those menu options in the menus to whatever 
you want and then create pages using "page.html" as a basic template. 

The font size and face is controlled by a stylesheet linked to from the pages. It 
also controls the neat rollover effects seen in IE (but not Netscape, which 
doesn't support it) If you want to change all this open up default.css and edit 
this:
